The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC or Commission) issued the Holtwood Hydroelectric Project’s current license on August 14, 1980, with an original expiration date of September 1, 2014 (34-year term). In 2009, FERC issued a license amendment for major construction and extension of Project license term by 16 years. The current license expires August 31, 2030.

BIF III Holtwood LLC is pursuing a new license from FERC for the continued operation of the Project through the Commission’s Integrated Licensing Process (ILP). The ILP provides a schedule, which includes opportunities for stakeholder engagement.

A process plan established by FERC will include the schedule and dates for the entire relicensing process up to the submittal of the Final License Application. The preliminary process plan will be provided in the forthcoming Pre-Application Document (PAD) and FERC will issue a schedule for the ILP process in the forthcoming Scoping Document for the Project relicensing. We currently anticipate that the PAD will be filed with the FERC and made publicly available in Spring of 2025.
